  • Fontforge

Fontforge is a font editor. Learning FontForge is easy – get started designing your own fonts with the tutorial. The entire interface is fully documented. Scripting allows designers to get repetitive tasks done quickly, and FontForge has excellent scripting support with both its own scripting language and Python. FontForge can be customized so it feels familiar, from hotkeys to visual themes and a translatable interface. You can share copies of FontForge freely and make changes under a libre license. You are invited to participate in this project; your bug reports, feature suggestions, donations, tutorial ideas and code contributions are all welcome!...

  • Crypto-Stick

The Crypto Stick is a USB stick in a small form factor containing an integrated OpenPGP smart card to allow easy and high-secure encryption e.g. of e-mail or for authentication in network environments. As opposed to ordinary software solutions, private keys are always inside the Crypto Stick so that their exposure is impossible. All cryptographic operations (precisely: decryption and signature because of public key cryptography) are executed on the PIN-protected Crypto Stick. In case the Crypto Stick was stolen, got lost, or is used on a virus-contaminated computer (e.g. Trojan horse) no attacker is able to access the private keys so that all encrypted data stays secure. The Crypto Stick is developed as a non-profit open source project and ensures a very high level of security due to verifiability and an attractive price. The open interface of the used OpenPGP smart card allows optimal compatibility with various software applications (e.g. GnuPG, Mozilla Thunderbird + Enigmail, OpenSSH, Linux PAM, OpenVPN, Mozilla Firefox)....

  • OpenCoin

The opencoin project is about "digital cash". We develop a protocol to use the original idea of electronic cash in daily life. For this we also develop a system consisting of minting software, wallet software and everything that is necessary to have a system for anonymous electronic transactions. opencoin defines standards and provides an implementation around the blind-signature system as invented by David Chaum, known as electronic cash / digicash. The software and specs are Open-Source under a GPL License....

  • Shark

Shark is an acronym. It stands for Shared Knowledge. Shark applications store user data only on user devices. We don't use any server or cloud architecture. Each Shark application is a peer - an independent and self-contained entity which can directly communicate with others. Communication in Shark based systems can be based on Internet protocols like TCP, HTTP and the e-mail protocols. Data can also be exchanged with e.g. Wifi direct (Wireless LAN in ad-hoc mode). Such applications work even without an existing infrastructure which is quite sufficient and effective e.g. for local based services but also in situations in which infrastructure isn't available, too expensive or not secure. Shark is a developer framework for building semantic P2P applications. It has to major parts: A semantic data model and a communication protocol stack. The data model is a subset of RDF and Topic Maps. The communications model was inspired by software agent communications languages. We have created a very slim protocol stack that works on Internet protocol as well as in ad-hoc networks. ...

  • Freifunk

The freifunk community is part of a global movement for free infrastructure and open frequencies. Our vision is the democratization of the media through free networks. Free wireless communities implement this idea worldwide. More and more people are single-handedly installing and maintaining free networks. Every user in the free wireless network provides his or her wireless LAN router for data transfer to other participants. In return, he or she can also transmit data, such as text, music and movies through a free internal network or use services setup by participants to chat, call or play online games. We use mesh networks. Many also share their internet access and allow others to use it to access the World Wide Web. Free wireless are DIY-networks. We use our own freifunk firmware a special Linux distribution, on our WLAN routers. Local communities provide software adapted to their own needs and then on their websites. There are more and more free wireless groups that meet regularly access in villages and cities....
